Carol Beggy

Biography

Carol Beggy is an award-winning writer and editor who has worked at several eastern Massachusetts publications, including The Boston Globe, where she worked for more than ten years. While at the Globe, Beggy was the founding editor of the Globe West section and was a co-author of the popular Names column for several years. A graduate of Northeastern University, Beggy is a Pittsburgh native.

Among her many collaborations are four books with renowned photographer Bill Brett, including the November 15, 2011 release Boston, Inspirational Women. For this project, they were joined by Brett's daughter Kerry, a renowned photographer in her own right. Boston, Inspirational Women is published by Three Bean Press, Boston, Mass.

Her previous books with Bill Brett are: Boston, All One Family; Boston, An Extended Family; and Boston, A Year in the Life. All three were bestsellers for the Beverly, Mass.-based Commonwealth Editions. Beggy also was part of a team the produced Ted Kennedy: Scenes from an Epic Life, a 200-page book culled from the extensive archives of the Globe that was released in 2009 from Simon & Schuster.

Her May 2011 release 101 Things I Hate About Your House paired Beggy with premier designer James Swan as they take readers on a room-by-room tour to better their home. On November 2, 2011 101 Things was named a winner in the 8th annual Book News "Best Books of 2011" contest. The book, from HCI Books, is illustrated by award-winning set designer Stanley A. Meyer.

Beggy is the founder and principal partner of Raw Bar Productions, which is currently working on several radio, film and television projects. She was a writer and story producer for styleboston, a 30-minute lifestyle TV show that airs weekly in New England. She is a marketing and public relations consultant to Rustic Kitchen and its The Cooking Show. She is a senior consultant with Saragoni & Company.
